Signs Demonstrated by Our Baby 

UNDER CONSTRUCTION!!!
Our son has demonstrated the following signs so far:

Individual signs

  1. Dog 11/9/05
    Slaps leg (or sometimes his chest)
  2. Milk/nurse 12/14?
    Around 1/4/06 rubbed pointer finger against thumb. Later opens/closes fist
  3. Up 11/17 Points finger in air to have me pick him up
  4. More 12/7
  5. Started off with a clap or two of the hands, later turned into tapping the hands together
  6. Water 12/12
  7. Very crude at first, ran finger over lips top to bottom making a bbb sound, later turned into tapping hand at the mouth
  8. Eat 12/14
  9. Star 1/15/06
  10. Crude at first, sort of flinging his fingers past each other in a wild clap
  11. Hear 2/1
    Puts hand to ear for plane, phone ringing ,etc.
  12. Light 11/9 (out of context), 1/4
    At first, tapped his mouth with the back of his open hand. Later fist opens/closes near mouth
  13. Fish 1/12
  14. Fan 10/23?, 12/14
    Rotates hand in circles
  15. Hurt 1/18
    At first claps hands together twice, then later (2/1) touching the tips of his pointer fingers together and saying "ow"
  16. Balloon 1/19
    17. Open hand touches side of mouth while making blowing sounds
  17. Warm (11 M)
    18. Taps is open hand to his mouth and says "wwwwwwwwwwww"
  18. Music 2/11
    Swinging one or two arms side to side
  19. Toilet 2/21
    Waves his hand back and forth (for poop and pee too)
  20. All Done 2/21
    Waves both hands up in the air (first time when I got out of the shower)
  21. Bird 3/1
    Flaps his "wings"
  22. Airplane 3/1
    Signs "hear" then points up, later sort of moves his hand fast up near his head area
  23. Truck 3/9
    Started by touching his pointer finger to opposite palm and later (6/7) turned into tapping fists together
  24. Baby 3/10
  25. Rain 3/16
  26. Cheese 3/16
  27. Ball (13 M)
    Puts arms up high in front of him and tries to put fingers together
  28. Help 4/15
  29. Sleep 4/19
  30. Cold (14 M)
  31. Tree 5/16
  32. Orange 5/16
  33. Shoes 6/1
  34. Apple 6/2
  35. Thank you 6/7
  36. Red 6/14
    At first,  he was signing it in response to hearing the spoken word, but was referring to something blue. I don't think he knows the difference. Few days later he got it right

Sign "phrases" and Mixed Word/Sign "phrases". Here are some examples:

  1. Cow Milk 6/5/06
    Signed "milk" and then pointed to his head and said "boooo". That's his way of saying "moooo", so he was signing "cow's milk"!
  2. Batteries Broken (17 M)
    Said "batteries" (sounds like bah-reez) then signed "broken"
  3. Stopped Star  (17 M)
    Signed both "stop" and "star"
